Freeborn County THRIVE and Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota will present The Wakanheza Project from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at Riverland Community College. The event will be held in the lecture hall and is free and open to the public. Contact Jackie Pederson to reserve your spot at 377-5501.
The Wakanheza Project provides tools and strategies to help people respond effectively to everyday situations of harsh treatment and prevent them from happening in the first place by creating welcoming environments for children, young people and families.
The project’s strategies have changed environments and experiences of people in museums, schools, shelters and other community organizations. At the workshop people will learn about the power everyone has to create positive environments as well as how to identify specific applications within organizations.
