You Can Help

The following are some of the opportunities for volunteers of any age currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Chess Club Coach: Calling all chess players to help elementary students learn to play chess and to mentor students in kindergarten through fifth grade who are ready to try new chess strategies. Chess season will be January through April with adult orientation the week of Jan. 9, Brookside School at 1:30 p.m. Please call Sonya Zieske, programs coordinator, 379-5153 for all details.
Martin Luther King Breakfast and Program: The 24th annual Martin Luther King Day program and breakfast will be held at Bethany Hall, First Lutheran Church from 7 to 8 a.m. on Jan. 16. You can make it a Day of Service rather than a day off in this new year, by helping as a greeter or to serve the continental breakfast and clean up. Please call Pat at 377-7433 to volunteer.
Senior Resources/AARP tax aide: Receptionists are needed for AARP Federal and State Tax Preparation. Volunteers can select the days or half days that work best starting with a January training to be scheduled. Call Bruce at 377-7433, Senior Resources, to sign up for your days.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
