Esther Luna, 85, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Esther F. Luna, of Albert Lea, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea. Deacon Michael Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Esther died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Mayo Clinich Health System in Albert Lea. She was 85 years old.

Esther was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Albert Lea to Lavern and Phoebe (Hatch) Larson. She attended school in the Trenton area of Freeborn County. She has lived in Trenton and Albert Lea. Esther was united in marriage to Jesse G. Luna and then became a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. She worked in various jobs with gardening and worked for Hill’s Gardens. Esther supported the Veteran and made many donations to their organizations. She loved baking, drawing, walking and keeping her flowers beautiful. Esther loved singing lullabies and telling stories to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which were her life. She deeply enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Esther is survived by seven grandchildren: Tammy (Luna) Marti and her husband, Mike, of Winnebago, Kim (Luna) Megdadi and her husband, Sameer, of Mankato, Tonya (Luna) Turvold and her husband, Darrel, of Hollandale, Dameion Luna of Waseca, Tara Casey and husband, Doug, of Banning, Amber Schultz and her husband, Lance, of Fairmont and Andrea Bremer and her husband, Kenny, of Owatonna; great-grandchildren: Rani Luna, Macayla and McKenzie Marti, Gaige, Sheldan and Destany Luna, Andrew Love, Cody Brossard, Jordan, Courtney and Sydney Turvold, Cassandra and Noah Casey, Madison, Ryan and Jackson Holmers, and Taylor, Courtney and Victoria Bremer; great-great-grandchildren: Rhea, Zoie and Jali Luna; sister, Ella Bleckeberg.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents: Lavern and Phoebe Larson; husband, Jesse G. Luna; daughter, Cynthia; sons: Terry and Tony; brother, Alvin Larson; sisters: Alice Phillips, Vera Smith, Hazel Wise and Vita May Larson.

Grandma will be truly missed and her memories will be forever in our hearts.
