Tommy Geesman, student at Alden Conger High School, received the Freeborn County Partners in Prevention Youth of the Year Award. The group is a community coalition and its goal is to prevent and reduce substance use and abuse among Freeborn County youth. Geesman has been a member of the group’s Alden Conger Youth Advisory Committee for three years. He has participated in many activities to educate his peers and raise awareness on youth use. Geesman made a video on positive ways to spend time with friends without using chemicals. With other YAC students he has presented to elementary students on the dangers of substance use. Geesman also volunteered at the group’s booth at the county fair.
