The Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary to Post No. 447 met at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at the American Legion Hall.

Prior to the meeting the post members joined the auxiliary for a Voice of Democracy audio essay presentation from Annabelle Randall, the local contest winner. She had gone on to win second place in the district competition. She was presented an award of $100 from the post and auxiliary.

Marilyn Danielson, youth activities chairwoman who can be reached at 373-0518, has another competition at this time due to her by March 31. It is “Young American Creative Patriotic Art.” Artwork can be 8 by 10 inches up to 18 by 24 inches. Patriotic art can be of any medium, pencil, water colors, oil or your original work. Danielson has all the details. There are awards to the winners local, district and state.

Another competition for students (boys and girls) sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary is an outstanding young volunteer essay of 100-150 words describing one’s volunteer work with verification by those one volunteers for. This will be due by April 28. There are monetary awards for these volunteers also. Danielson is chairwoman for this also.

President Eunice Hatleli conducted the regular meeting. Secretary Lynda Vermadahl read the secretary’s report and Treasurer Beverly Boone read her report, and they were approved.

Chaplain Ruby Fredrickson and conductress Betty Jones held draping of the charter ceremony for sisters Eva Priebe and Georgia Godtland.

Frances Camerer, Marcy Carlson and Dorothy Boettcher were new members welcomed into the auxiliary.

Cali Davis won the door prize.

Ruby Fredrickson served lunch.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on March 12.
