A retired disabled veteran from Wells is Minnesota’s newest $1 million lottery winner. Benjamin Ramos Sr. claimed a $1,285,013 Gopher 5 jackpot at the Minnesota State Lottery headquarters in Roseville Monday.
Ramos says he normally doesn’t play the Gopher 5 game, but decided to buy a ticket after getting a call from his ex-wife that the jackpot was getting big.
“I guess Lady Luck was giving me a break,” Ramos said as he claimed his prize. “I think she was tired of seeing me lose.”
Ramos purchased the winning ticket at Casey’s General Store in Wells. Casey’s will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
