You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
You can help build your bones: Stronger bones, better balance and more ease for turning your head while driving are significant. Participate in a Bone Builders Group twice a week and help yourself to these life benefits. Call RSVP at 377-7433 and ask for the schedule. Choose from the 12 Bone Builder sites.
Mentors: Community Mentor Connection really needs male mentors for boys. This works well as an opportunity to give back in our community and change a child’s life. Spend an hour or two a week. Many group activities are planned with costs covered and training provided. Contact Carolyn Smith at 877-232-8399 or starsforkids@yahoo.com.
Habitat’s Re-Store: Going ‘green’ for housing is getting easier with Habitat for Humanity’s new Re-Store 919 W. Main, Albert Lea. Volunteer to staff the store Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. or Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Connect with Adrienne Thorson, 507-402-1714 or American Bank 377-7030 here in Albert Lea.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
