Let’s just stop saying the R-word

March is Developmental Disability Awareness Month, a time to promote the acceptance and inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We would like to spread the word to end the use of the R-word: “retard.” Today the R-word has become a common word used by society as an insult for someone or something stupid. We would like to remind everyone that the R-word is hurtful and degrading. We would like you to make a promise not to use the R-word. The only R-word that is acceptable is respect.
