Lloyd died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.
Lloyd Wallace Flaskerud was born on Sept. 14, 1927, in Calmer, Iowa, the son of Wilhelm A. and Lillian A. (Nagel) Flaskerud. He attended rural country school No. 47. Lloyd was baptized in Iowa and confirmed at Round Prairie Lutheran Church. After serving two years in the United States Army, Lloyd returned home to farm. He married Rosemary at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Lloyd farmed for more than 40 years, drove transport, worked on heavy equipment jobs, delivered motor homes and maintained the Freeman township roads for years. In 1987 Lloyd sold the family farm and along with his wife, bought and repaired homes and property. There was nothing Lloyd couldn’t fix or repair. If he needed a part for anything and couldn’t find one, he would make it himself. He always worked hard, never giving up, always finishing a job or project. Lloyd loved snowmobiling and enjoyed going on trips with his brother Gene and friend Adrian. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with family and friends. Lloyd was a very kind, considerate and quiet man and a man of few words.
He will be forever remembered with love and truly missed by his wife, Rosemary; son, Greg (Dawn) Flaskerud; daughter, Cheryl Hanson; grandson, Monty (Kristy) Flaskerud; granddaughter, Elizabeth Flaskerud; brother, Eugene (Ruth) Flaskerud; brother-in-law, Dar Claussen; sisters-in-law, Pat (Dick) Radke and Sandi (Steve) Nesse; many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Claussen and his in-laws, John and Esther Egland.
