ST. PAUL — This is one retirement Tom Gillaspy surely saw coming. His own.
The Minnesota state demographer said Friday he’ll retire next week. He’s the state official who has most closely tracked population data, work force issues and demographics such as aging for 32 years.
Gillaspy will leave his post on Tuesday.
He’s known for making dull figures come to life. He usually gives more than 150 presentations a year to government officials, businesses, nonprofits and others to help them plan for the future and make adjustments.
The Department of Administration says Susan Brower will take his place. She has done demographic work for the Wilder Foundation.
