On March 1 and 2 Hawthorne and Sibley elementary schools had the opportunity to listen to presentations by Douglas Wood, an accomplished Minnesota author. His presentations combined many aspects of his life, including his writing, illustrating, storytelling, singing, playing guitar and his love of nature. He talked to the students about how he persevered through his ADHD disability to learn to read with the extra help of a very special teacher. His message to all of us was to keep trying, to not give up and to ask for help if you need it. Parent-teacher organizations funded this event.
