Tigers place 2nd in 2 tournaments

The Albert Lea fourth-grade boys’ basketball team placed second in its home tournament on Feb. 18. The Tigers opened with a 35-17 win over Kasson Blue before defeating New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva 20-16. The Rochester Rebels beat the Tigers 26-14 in the championship game. The team wore pink wrist bands to recognize breast cancer awareness and in honor of Koby Hendrickson’s aunt, Kristine Hendrickson, a five-year breast cancer survivor. The team then placed second in Austin on Feb. 25. The Tigers won against Austin, Stewartville and Lyle/Pacelli, before falling to Kasson Red 31-30 in the championship game.
