Parents and students read books and enjoy popcorn at Southwest Middle School’s “Popcorn & a Book” night.

Southwest Middle School teacher Starr Kloskin and Southwest Middle School librarian Neil Chalmers welcomed sixth- and seventh-grade students and their parents to the April “Popcorn & a Book” Family Reading Night earlier this month. Students and their family members spent an hour of quiet reading time together while enjoying delicious popcorn. This is the third “Popcorn & a Book” night this school year.

“It’s great to see families supporting their children’s reading,” said Chalmers.

The Southwest Middle School library staff have been working to increase student reading throughout the year.
