Firefighters north and south of the Minnesota border sure had a busy week dealing with small and large wildfires. Thankfully, no homes burned down. Good job, paid and volunteer firefighters, with extinguishing all the blazes. On another note, we were glad to hear leniency is being given to pre-teen boys to set the Monday morning fire. We hope they have learned a valuable lesson, one hopefully that other kids learned, too. Parents, please speak with your children about fire safety.
From track superstars like Albert Lea’s Chrissy Monson and Brody Sundblad to New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva’s softball queen Jade Schultz, there’s plenty to like about spring sports. Check out the glossy Spring Sports Yearbook in Tuesday’s Tribune for information about all the area spring sports teams.
This is a good program that challenges students in multiple ways, and we are glad that Albert Lea participates. Albert Lea Area Schools is sending seven teams — seven! — to the state tournament, and we hope at least one advances to the national tournament in Knoxville, Tenn. Good work, kids! Keep flexing your big brains.
