Racism rears its ugly head in A.L.

This is a public letter to the three 20-something black youth who approached my husband and our 3-year-old grandson at the park on Frank Hall Drive by the lake: Why would you approach a grandfather and a small child in broad daylight and use such profanity toward them because they were white and wearing Minnesota Vikings caps? The prejudice against them for being white and for being sports fans is ludicrous!
We have lived in this peaceable community all of our lives and are appalled by your behavior. Intimidating and using the F-word so blatantly and in front of a 3-year-old to boot. I hope your mommas read this article and hang their heads in shame!
This is a nice community, if you don’t respect it, you are free to go elsewhere. This is a diverse community, welcoming people of all races, occupations, ages, etc. This kind of behavior will not be accepted by our community. I only wish you would not have disappeared when we returned to the area. My husband sought safety for our grandson as his main priority. The police would have been contacted had you still been there. Shame on you! What is becoming of our fair city?
