Senior LinkAge Line offering free training

Looking for an opportunity to share your skills and time with a team that makes a difference? The Senior LinkAge Line is looking for people who want to become state certified Medicare and health insurance counselors. The “core body of knowledge” training is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 9, 16, 23 and 30 at Senior Place in Owatonna. Senior Place is at 500 Dunnell Drive on the West Hills campus. There is no cost for the training; a commitment of time assisting others is expected. The information covered in the class includes original Medicare, Part A and B, supplements, advantage plans, Part D prescription drug coverage, appeals, medical assistance, long-term care insurance, fraud and abuse, the Minnesota Help network and related programs.
This course, once completed, certifies you as a Senior LinkAge Line® health insurance counselor by the Minnesota Board on Aging. Volunteers are an integral part of the Medicare system all over the U.S… Last year in Minnesota over 750 volunteers provided nearly 9,000 hours of service. Volunteers are provided ongoing support and training through the local call centers and help others in their community navigate this complex topic.
Chad Wojchik, senior LinkAge Line specialist will be the trainer. He has worked with clients on Medicare and other issues for the area for over eight years.
