Sirens slated to be tested

On Monday the Civil Defense siren radios were converted to the narrow banding frequency as part of the ongoing mandatory migration undertaken last year, according to a press release from the city of Albert Lea. The sirens did not sound during Wednesday’s testing due to technical difficulties. Technicians were working on the problem and hoped to have them operational by today. Some sirens may be tested today as part of the repair work.

Next week is Severe Weather Awareness Week and the sirens are scheduled to be tested several times during the week. This will provide another opportunity to test the new siren system.
