Southwest Middle School’s annual Tiger Trot, in conjunction with the Albert Lea Family Y’s Fountain Lake 5, will be at 9 a.m. April 21 at the Brookside Education Center.

The annual event is a fundraiser for the school’s student activity fund, which funds field trips, assemblies and more.

On the day of the race packet pickup is from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. Registration before Friday is $15, and those who register before Friday will be guaranteed a T-shirt. Registration after Friday is $20. Registration for seventh-graders and younger is $5. Southwest students will also be collecting pledges to support the fundraiser.

The event is a 5k fun run or walk and is open to the community. There are no bicycles or roller blades allowed on the race course. The top three male and female finishers will receive awards. The event will be held rain or shine ,and no refunds are available.
