Wrestlers place at state

The Albert Lea wrestling team sent 11 K-6th and three junior high invidual wrestlers to the 2012 Northland Youth Wrestling Aosociation state tournament on March 31. The Albert Lea youth wrestling team placed third at the 2012 Norland Youth Wrestling Association state tournament March 31 to April 1. The tournament was held at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.

In addition to the team, the Tigers sent 11 K to 6th individuals and three junior high individuals to state.
Kail Wynia, Brody Neilsen and Garrett Aldrich were all named state champions.
Seven individuals were placewinners.
Mason Hammer finished second, Gavin Ignaszewski finished third, Joey Flores finished fourth, and Mike Olson, Cole Glazier and Hunter Lowman finished fifth.
Other boys who made it to state but did not place were Nic Cantu, Zach Glazier, Jacob Johnsrud, Ty Harms and Chris Nelson.
Before the state tournament, the team had won the Region 2 NYWA tournament in March and placed second at the Byron Bears Challenge in February just behind Apple Valley 204-199.
