You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Celebrating National Volunteer Week: From April 15 to April 21, all volunteers in our communities will have a special week of recognition, it’s National Volunteer Week. Beginning next Sunday, please watch for articles and letters to the Tribune’s editor that highlight our volunteers’significant daily impact. To volunteers of any age, we say, thank you again and again and again!
Community Mentor Connection: Do remember wishing you could play catch, go fishing or go to a movie with a reliable grown up? Any child age 9 to 13 is much less at risk when the invaluable weekly connection with an adult is in their life. You can be that someone who makes a difference and helps a child know they can grow strong. Connect with Carolyn at 379-3409 to learn more.
Freeborn County Bike-AThon:
It’s the 40th anniversary ride for the Freeborn County Bike-A-Thon May 5, starting at Sibley Elementary School’s warming house. We need your help between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. hosting and checking in all riders to verify they are safe and not lost on the route.
The Bike-A-Thon supports the American Cancer Society. Call Pat Stumme at 377-7433 to help host returning riders at the warming house. RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
