The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Humane Society: You could be the purr-fect person to spend some time with cat care, walk a dog or two, help with tours, or do other light tasks need doing at our animal shelter. Volunteer friendly schedules are available any day Sunday through Saturday for youth and adults. Please call Dee Amberg anytime at 383-0683 or Christa at the shelter between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. any Tuesday through Saturday at 377-8501.
RSVP first aid kits: Just ask at Raleigh’s Ace Hardware in Albert Lea for the RSVP just-right size first aid kits equipped for your outdoor person, traveler or home emergencies. The modest $10 purchase price also makes a donation to RSVP for Freeborn County. Remember, spring brings graduations, confirmations and gifting showers of all kinds and you are helping RSVP at the same time.
Front desk receptionist: Could you help with receptionist duties at the Senior Resources office for three to four hours a day once or twice a week? Your willingness to volunteer is most appreciated by the folks who seek information at the Senior Resources office by phone, walk-ins or appointment. Call 377-7433 for more information.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
