2 local men die in separate crashes

Two local men died Saturday in separate crashes in Iowa.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, John Lybarger, formerly of Albert Lea, died early Saturday after a crash in Cerro Gordo County.
Reports stated Lybarger, 33, was traveling with two others at about 3:30 a.m. when the 1997 Dodge pickup they were riding in lost control and went into the west ditch on Spruce Avenue south of County Road B20. The vehicle rolled and came to a rest on its top.
The two other people in the vehicle, Minda Jones, 32, and Jason Genzler, 33 were both injured. The report states Lybarger and Jones were not wearing seatbelts.
It is unknown who the driver was.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the second incident took place Saturday night after a motorcycle crash in Winnebago County west of Lake Mills, Iowa.
The State Patrol states Michael Todd Armstrong, 52, was driving westbound on U.S. Highway 69 when he lost control of his 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and went into the north ditch.
The crash took place at about 11 p.m. near the highway’s intersection with 212th Avenue.
The State Patrol states Armstrong was thrown from the motorcyle and came to rest in a field. The motorcycle came to rest in the ditch.
The crash remains under investigation.
The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Lake Mills Police Department, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Mills ambulance.
Armstrong’s funeral arrangements are pending at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea.
