ROCHESTER (AP) — Christa Fassi and Janet Champion have been elected to the Figure Skating Coaches Hall of Fame by the Professional Skaters Association.
Fassi, whose husband Carlo coached Olympic champions Peggy Fleming and Dorothy Hamill, worked with former U.S. champion Nicole Bobek and dozens of other skaters after Carlo died.
After her skating career, Champion began coaching with the Fassis in Colorado Springs. She has taught in Chicago, Dallas, Denver and abroad in Canada and Australia.
Elected in the “early influences” category are Robert Ogilvie, Eugene Turner and Cecilia Colledge.
The PSA Hall of Fame nominating committee is made up of all living Hall of Fame members and past PSA presidents. Candidates must be approved by 60 percent of the committee members.
