Film to show long trek to America

Immigration has become a very sensitive and often contentious issue both nationally and locally the past several years. Our communities and schools continue to become more diverse, which can be both wonderful and challenging. Understanding the varied stories of recent immigrants can help us appreciate their journeys and meet the cultural challenges we all face together.

Today, the Albert Lea High School equity team is sponsoring a showing of the documentary film “God Grew Tired of Us” — the story of four young men from Sudan who embark on a journey to America after years of wandering Sub-Saharan Africa in search of safety. Showtime is 7 p.m. in the ALHS auditorium. This is a very powerful and engaging film that Paths to Peace showed a few years ago as a part of its film series. Admission is free and open to the public. The film’s running time is 89 minutes, and an optional discussion will follow.
