Kathryn Schneider, 84, Mankato

Kathryn Ann Schneider, age 84, of Mankato died Friday, May 18, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake with her son, the Rev. Robert J. Schneider, Bishop John Quinn and priests of the Winona Diocese, con-celebrating the mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to All Saints School.

Kathryn Schneider

Kathryn Ann was born Feb. 15, 1928, to Julius and Eva (Swansby) Kubier in Whitman, N.D. She was united in marriage to Joseph H. Schneider on Dec. 2, 1950, in Red Wing. Kathryn graduated from St. Catherine’s College with her nursing degree and Metro University with her teaching degree. She was employed by Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital and from 1975-1989 she taught at South Central Technical College. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Helping Hands funeral lunch group. She also volunteered at Good Counsel for many years. Kathryn enjoyed reading and playing cards.

Kathryn is survived by her seven children, Rev. Robert J. Schneider of Madison Lake, Sister Jane Schneider of Alliance, Neb., Mary (Bobby) DiFrance of Paonia, Colo., David Schneider of Montrose, Colo., Don (Mary) Schneider of Eagle Lake, Jim (Lynn) Schneider of Durango, Colo., Pat (Bernie) Paulson of Eagle Lake; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Kathleen Kubier of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph on Nov. 24, 1996; sister Mary Ellen Blaida; two brothers Julius Kubier and Richard Kubier; and grandson David Esquibel.
