Lake Mills man dies after accidental shooting

LAKE MILLS, Iowa — A man from this community reportedly died last week after what police are calling an accidental shooting.

According to the Lake Mills Police Department, Douglas Zobel, 55, died on Wednesday of a gunshot wound to the chest.

A news release stated authorities found Zobel after responding to a medical emergency call at 305 E. Main St.

Investigation showed Zobel was trying to repair a malfunctioning shotgun when the gun accidentally discharged.
