Normanna Lodge awards scholarship

Normanna Lodge No. 52, Sons of Norway, recently awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Maria Ellingson who hass attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, for two years. The Normanna No. 52 scholarship is awarded annually to a student involved in Norwegian Studies and has complete two years of college. This student must also have a grade point average of 3.5 or better to qualify.

Genealogical Society to hold meeting on Monday

The Freeborn County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday. The meeting will be held in the Heritage Hall at the Freeborn County Historical Museum. The program will be presented by Mark Jones on “Graceland Cemetery Records.” The public is invited. The museum is located at 1031 N. Bridge Ave., Albert Lea.

New summer hours for Eye Services

Beginning Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, Mayo Clinic Health System’s eye services in Albert Lea and optical shop will be closed on Saturdays. Eye services and the optical shop will continue normal business hours during the week: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
