Thanks for the great support

Thank you, Albert Lea and surrounding community, for the overwhelming support given us, the Southern Minnesota Parkinson’s Support Group, in our inaugural Walk for Parkinson’s Disease held May 19 at the Northbridge Mall.
We want to thank all the businesses who so generously supported us with donations for the silent auction, for prizes and food for snacks. Thank you for all the silent auction buyers, for Northbridge Mall allowing us space, tables and chairs, and for the Albert Lea Tribune, the Freeborn County Shopper and KATE radio for helping us promote this event. Thank you to the nearly 200 people who came to walk, offer support to the many Parkinson’s disease sufferers and to gain more knowledge about this disease.
To date we have raised more than $11,000, with money continuing to come in. These contributions will be divided between the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, and the National Parkinson’s Foundation Minnesota to be used for research, education and respite care directly to families caring for a Parkinson’s member.
We thank you, also, for the money designated for our local support group. Our group meets every month on the fourth Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Albert Lea Senior Center. We welcome anyone interested from the southern Minnesota and northern Iowa area.
We also thank American Parkinson’s Disease Association, National Parkinson’s Foundation Minnesota and Struthers Parkinson’s Center for providing prizes, sending representatives, and providing many books and other informative materials to be placed in our lending library.
