AUSTIN — The Albert Lea baseball team secured a 9-4 win over Austin in their first game of a double header on Tuesday.

Albert Lea's Dylan SeeRockers delivers in the bottom of the fifth during game one of a doubleheader Tuesday against Austin in Austin.

Tigers coach Joe Sczublewski said they took advantage of opportunities with timely hitting and also with outstanding pitching by Dylan See-Rockers.

A hit by Houston Sharpe in the third inning was key to the Tigers’ win.

“He cleaned out the bases and we never relinquished,” Sczublewski said. “It was a 1-1 score, he doubled off the fence to knock in three runs.”

The second game against the Packers came down to the seventh inning which ended in an 8-5 Tiger loss.

The Tigers were down 8-3 when they scored two runs with two outs. Bases were loaded when they got their last out.

“It was a hard hit ball that they just made a nice play on,” Sczublewski said. “It was a nice rally, we just spotted them too big of a lead, and it was hard to catch up, but our kids battled at the end.”

Sczublewski said the game came down to having too many runners left on base.

The Tigers are now 7-3 overall and 6-3 in the Big Nine Conference.
