The United Methodist Women met April 4. An Easter musical selection was presented by Merle Stensrud, followed by president Marty Beckmann opening the meeting with a prayer, and the UMW purpose.
The secretary report was given by JoAnn Seuser, and treasurer’s report by Ruth Vermedahl. A reading from the Bible about the crucifixion, and the jelly bean prayer were given by Adean Turner.
Social Action person, Sharon Nelson, urged members to remember the family of the recent tragedy in Osage, Iowa.
Marcelle Emtson reported that members would assist with bingo at Good Samaritan Society on April 25, and that the Church Women United salad luncheon will be held May 18 at First Lutheran Church.
Judy Hargrave told of the Emma Norton Annual dinner and benefit on April 30 in Minneapolis. Judy Hargrave reminded members of the Sew Happy Quilters trunk show, to be held at UMC on April 28. A brunch would be served, followed by a presentation about quilts by Jan Prescher, Merle Stensrud and Joyce Stenzel.
The 2012 School of Christian Missions will be held at St. John’s University July 17-20 and July 20-22. This year’s studies will be “Poverty,” “Immigration in the Bible,” and “Haiti: Challenges and Hope.”
Beulah Wiegand of Hope Circle, introduced Virginia Hermanson, who presented the program, “Foods from Bible Days.” Food representative of Bible times was prepared by Hermanson and served by Just 3 Circle. The May general meeting will be a memorial service at 10 a.m., followed by a luncheon at 11:30 a.m.
