First truckload of water to go to Duluth

In just a few short days, organizers have gathered resources to fill the first of two semitrailers of bottled water for the residents of the Duluth and surrounding areas.

In recent days and weeks the area has been lost beneath flood waters. Areas in and around Duluth are seeing floodwaters recede; however, there is still work to be done.

Organizers are hoping to raise $3,500 more — enough to fill a second truckload.

People can donate to the effort at the Hy-Vee stores in Albert Lea and Austin. Donations are also accepted at the Salvation Army offices in Albert Lea.

The group is still asking for donations of $25 to help in paying for the additional 22 pallets of water. The Albert Lea Hy-Vee is offering to donors of $25 or more a 25-cent discount per gallon of gas.
