Kids cause chaos down at courts

I’m writing to offer a suggestion for parents who allow their teens/pre-teens out and about during the summer, more so to alert other parents of the behavior of these teens I witness on a daily basis. At the basketball court/tennis courts near the city pool, there are constantly teens smoking, fighting, swearing and, most disgustingly, showing very inappropriate public displays of affection. I won’t go into detail, but some also need to be aware of the bathroom facilities near the court as well.

I understand that there are certain things that parents don’t want to discuss or don’t believe their children would do, but when I see 14- or 15-year-old girls with larger-than-life hickeys on their necks and next to nothing for clothing on, I have to say something! I am hoping this letter brings a conversation with these young kids and their parents.

And for those of you wondering, I will notify the police of ill behaviors, and I have directly confronted these kids on my own because my young children have seen it all. And I have also had to deal with their questions and redirect them from seeing these bad decisions. Oh, and for those of you feeling the need to do 45 mph near these courts, I will report you. Slow down, I am also certain you don’t want to be the one to hit a child. Thank you.
