Roger Horgen Sr., 79, Dekalb, Ill.

Roger M. Horgen Sr., 79, of Dekalb, Ill., died April 17, 2012, at home.

He was born Aug. 21, 1932, in Kensett, Iowa, and was the son of Marguerite Witham.

Roger attended District 76 Primary School in Twin Lakes, graduated from Albert Lea High School and served as a sailor in the U.S. Navy.

In Dekalb he worked for many years at Nehring Electrical Works before retiring in 2007. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a very active member of Dekalb Moose Lodge 586.

He is survived by his special friend Jeanne Scoughton of Dekalb; two children: Cindy Coleman of Cortland, Ill., and Roger Horgen Jr. of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren: three brothers: James Horgen of Bethany, Del., Jerry Horgen of Henning and Paul Horgen of Phoenix, Ariz., and one sister, Sandra Horgen of Minneapolis and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite; his stepfather, Everett Horgen and by his wife Gloria.

An internment service will be held at Lunder Lutheran Church in Twin Lakes at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30. Lunch will be served following the ceremony at the church.
