OWATONNA — Leaders of Minnesota cities are gathering in Owatonna to talk about how to approach the next state legislative session.
The Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities convention gets under way in earnest today. The coalition represents cities outside the metro area.
Coalition lobbyist J.D. Burton says as 2013 approaches, the group has focused on some key legislative issues. One of those issues is reviving a tax-credit program that helps local businesses when they make new hires. The program was vetoed during this year’s legislative session.
One of the group’s victories recently was a business development grant which gave $6 million to communities to stimulate job creation and retain existing jobs.
