Potter to be featured in lecture series

Albert Lea business owner and potter, Steve Tubbs, is the featured speaker at the Albert Lea Art Center’s monthly Godtland Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday. Following his passion for pottery for more than 30 years, Tubbs is well known for the mugs he creates each year for the Big Island Rendezvous & Festival, but he also creates other pottery items including wine chillers, vases, tableware, serving dishes and candle holders. Tubb’s pottery can be found at his shop, Ben’s Floral & Frame Designs in Albert Lea.
The art center’s lecture series showcases local and visiting artists and craftsmen, and include painters, woodworkers, musicians, poets, potters, storytellers, jewelry artists, sculptors and more. The Albert Lea Art Center is located at 224 S. Broadway Ave. Art center hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Art shop and gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
