Residents ready for a jubilee

LAKE MILLS — The July Jubilee in this town will be Friday through Sunday. All weekend there will be the Floyd Thomas Art Gallery at Linda Kane Photography and a rendezvous on South Mill Street featuring a variety of activities.

Friday will have a street dance featuring the band Pop Rocks and a bake sale at the Lake Mills Civic Center. There will also be food and wine tasting at the 1901 Victorian House.

Saturday will begin with a 5k walk/run and later a parade and picnic. During the afternoon there will be a mug bog for all-terrain vehicles and three-on-three basketball contest. The day will end with a street dance featuring the band Sell Out Stereo.

Sunday will begin with a pancake breakfast followed by a radio-controlled air show at the airport. There will also be a kayak float at Rice Lake where people can enjoy a half hour of free kayaking.

The July Jubilee will feature many events all ages will enjoy.

 

Thursday:

4 to 8 p.m.: FFA car wash and detailing on the south side of the school

 

Friday:

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Sidewalk Sales

5 to 7 p.m.: Wine and food tasting at 1901 Victorian House, sponsored by the historical society

5:30 p.m.: Little Mr. and Miss Contest at Mills Theater

6:30 to 8 p.m.: Ag Olympics event sponsored by the FFA

7 p.m.: Beer garden opens

8 p.m. to midnight: Street dance on North Mill Street featuring Pop Rocks

8 p.m. to close: DJ/karaoke at Cruiser’s Route 69

 

Saturday:

7:30 a.m.: 5k run/walk starts at Stutzman Physical Therapy (7 a.m. registration)

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Sidewalk sales

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Flea and craft vendors at Oakwood Park

9:30 a.m.: Kiddie parade judging

10:30 a.m. Parade

11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Community picnic in
Oakwood Park

11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. FFA antique tractors

Noon to 3 p.m.: Free entertainment at the park featuring Sig’s Band and Chance Meetings band

Noon: 3-on-3 basketball contest

Noon to 4 p.m.: Inflatable games and concessions

1 to 3 p.m.: Open house at 1901 Victorian House and Country School Museum

1:45 to 4:30 p.m.: Tennis tournament (1 to 1:30 p.m. registration)

3 p.m.: ATV mud bog (noon to 2:30 p.m. registration)

3 p.m.: Pedal Tractor Pull, ages 4 and up

7 p.m.: Beer garden opens

8 p.m. to midnight: Street dance featuring Sell Out Stereo

8 p.m. to close: DJ/Karaoke at Cruiser’s Route 69
