Save cottage at Edgewater Park

I’m for saving the Edgewater Park cottage if at all possible, and I can’t understand how the city of Albert Lea could let it get so rundown to the point they have to tear it down. It’s just as much a part of the town’s history as the bank building downtown, and it seems to me that somebody dropped the ball in letting the cottage get into this shape.
I was lucky enough to reserve the cottage for the Freedom Festival, an event held by the Albert Lea Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, because the cottage is usually rented out most of the time. Some people even like to reserve it a year in advance, because it’s a popular spot. I’m hoping we can figure out a way to save the Edgewater Park cottage, but then again if the city would tear down the cottage, they’d get more use out of the new pavilion.
