You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Community Mentor Connection: School-age girls and boys all across Freeborn County are ready for mentors who can spend some quality time (up to two hours a week) with them. Volunteer mentors receive training and participate in organized Mentor Connection activities with their young person. Please call 383-5272 for more information; you can make a difference in the life of a child!
Freeborn County Fair helpers: Let’s go to the Freeborn County Fair and help on Senior Day on Wednesday, Aug. 1, as a wheelchair escort around the grounds with residents of St. John’s Lutheran Home. Please call Carla Reichel at 473-1028 for details; there will be no cost to the volunteers.
Reading Partners and Minnesota Reading Corps: Children need an audience when they read aloud. Beginning Sept. 17, adults of any age can be that person who encourages a child’s success in school through increased reading skills. Please call Linda Bottelson at 383-1466 for more information and to volunteer. Your presence will mean so much.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
