You Can Help

These are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
First aid kits: Just ask at Raleigh’s Ace Hardware, 2525 Bridge Ave., Albert Lea, for the RSVP just-right size first aid kits equipped for your outdoor person, traveler, pet or home emergencies. Summer brings several gift giving events so your gift is helping two — you and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, together. Sales will close July 30.
Youth activity guide handouts: Plan ahead to help hand out the youth activity guides that are being prepared for distribution Aug. 29 and 30 at our elementary schools. It’s a great way to encourage students and families to be active in our county.
Volunteer Driver: You can help seniors maintain their independence when they are no longer able to drive to their appointments. Ride Services of Freeborn County needs additional drivers — one or more days a week. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage and receive trainings; call Senior Resources at 377-7433 for additional information and to volunteer.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging, and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
