One woman was injured Wednesday after she reportedly came off of the Interstate 35 Exit 12 off-ramp, ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle.

According to police, Harriet Marlene Nelson, 79, was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. She reportedly suffered a medical condition when she ran the light.

Nelson, who was driving a Honda CRV, crashed into a Ford Edge, driven by Paula Ann Thimmesch, 63, where the road intersects with Blake Avenue.

Thimmesch and her passenger were not injured.

No citations were given.

 

Man arrested for DWI

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Justin Frederic Kleinschmidt for third-degree driving while intoxicated, second-degree test refusal and terroristic threats at 12:26 a.m. today near the intersection of Minnesota Highway 251 and Freeborn County Road 26.

 

Juvenile cited for possession of stolen property

A juvenile male was cited with possession of stolen property and possession of alcohol at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday at 16853 785th Ave., north of Glenville, according to reports. It is unclear whether the property is connected to a string of thefts that have been taking place in Glenville during the last month.

 

Pop machine damaged

A pop machine was reported damaged at 19499 780th Ave., Albert Lea, at 10:52 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.

 

Car gone through

A car at 321 E. Fifth St., Glenville, was reported gone through on Sunday and Monday nights, according to the Sheriff’s Office. A couple books of matches and an empty gift box were reported taken.

 

Air conditioner damaged

A window air conditioner at 325 W. College St. was reported damaged at 4:32 p.m. Wednesday, according to reports.

 

Pawlenty given prime speaking spot at RNC

ST. PAUL (AP) — Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been given a prime time spot for his address at the Republican National Convention next week.

Republican National Chairman Reine Priebus says Pawlenty will speak before a national TV audience Wednesday night in Tampa, Fla. His address is scheduled right before former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan.

The convention begins Monday and ends Thursday.

 

Police: Minn. officers stabbed after fake 911 call

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A man accused of stabbing two Minneapolis park police officers told police he placed a fake 911 call so he could ambush officers, authorities said Wednesday.

The 38-year-old man was shot by a Minneapolis park police officer after the attack and was under guard Wednesday at Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was in stable condition.

Minneapolis police Sgt. Bill Palmer said authorities got a call late Tuesday about a robbery at knifepoint near Minnehaha Parkway West and Bryant Avenue South.

Two park police officers responded — a man and a woman. When they approached the man, who they thought was a victim, he stabbed the male officer in the chest, then stabbed the female officer in the upper back.

The male officer shot the man to defend his partner.
