The Albert Lea Art Center presents Cathy Porter, as this month’s speaker at the monthly Godtland Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday. Porter’s presentation is titled “The Art of Quilting,” and will include a discussion on Porter’s love of quilting from the perspective of a craftsman and a collector.

As a collector, Porter will feature a few family quilts, talk briefly about quilt history and what to look for when collecting. Porter will also bring some contemporary examples from her collection.

From a craftsman’s perspective, Porter will talk about tools and resources available today and share how she became a quilter, her influences, design process, and a few examples of her work.

The Godtland Lecture Series is held every third Thursday of the month at the Art Center and features local and visiting artisans showcasing their talent. Additional information on the lecture series may be found at www.thealbertleaartcenter.org.
