The pupils at The Children’s Center had the opportunity Thursday to visit the Freeborn County Fair. While they were there, they had the chance to visit animal barns, the 4-H building, ride the trolley and enjoy a snack provided by the fair’s board. It was a great hands-on experience for the children, volunteers and staff. “One of my students’ favorite moments was being able to watch the owners of a cow milk the cow before showing. The children got so excited to see the process of how a cow is milked and had many questions. After viewing the milking the children were then able to go outside the barn and pretend to milk a plastic cow themselves,” said Mariah Howe, head teacher of the Blue Sky room. “Many of my students enjoyed seeing all the cows and calves getting prepped and ready to be shown,” said Samantha Register, head teacher for the Sunshine room. “We saw them getting baths and getting their hair dried, cut and brushed. We were able to get up close to one of the grand champion calves and touch how soft it was.” Pictured above is the Sunshine Room (4- and 5-year-olds) at The Children’s Center.
