The Tribune debuted a new page just for children in the Sunday edition. It is called Kids’ Corner.

It features content that appeals to child readers — jokes and riddles, a coloring picture, neat information, puzzles and games.

Research time and again has proven that children who grow in a home that subscribes to a daily newspaper generally have better reading skills than children homes that don’t. Plus, they generally know more about what makes a community work.

Giving children a place in the newspaper encourages the habit of newspaper reading. We chose to run the page on Sunday because that’s a day that parents can encourage this activity without competing with homework or children reading the paper at school.

The Kids’ Page is available only in the print edition of the Albert Lea Tribune, just another example of how subscribers have the greatest benefits.
