One of the administrators in the Freeborn County jail is on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation by the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.

The Freeborn County Board of Commissioners met in closed session Tuesday morning to discuss performance issues of Jail Administrator Marcelino Pena.

Freeborn County Sheriff Bob Kindler said Pena has been on paid leave since July 23.

He has worked for the Sheriff’s Office since 2004.

Kindler said the investigation is expected to conclude in two to three weeks, and he could not release any further details at this time.
