Remember the local food shelves

Summer has been a busy time at the area food shelf. Demand has been heavy and donations always wane during the summer months. Arriving with autumn is the start of school and a degree of relief from hunger for more than 200,000 Minnesota children who were without free or reduced-price meals over the summer months.
Also arriving with autumn are generous donations of locally grown produce to the food shelf. This produce is a true blessing! Unfortunately, the demand for supplemental food assistance remains high and the shelves thin of food.
Please remember your local food shelf and continue your support through donations of food and money. Your local food shelf can greatly stretch your monetary donations by purchasing goods through Channel One Regional Food Bank.
The food purchase program at Channel One Regional Food Bank can help local food shelves provide up to five meals for $1, or feed a family of four for a month on $25. One community food shelf recently bought 1,700 pounds of food through Channel One Food Bank for just $12! Donations to Channel One Food Bank are needed to help maintain and strengthen this valuable program and improve our ability to help your local food shelf. For information on how your company, organization or you individually can join the Channel One Food Bank mission and fight hunger regionally visit the Channel One website at www.helpingfeedpeople.org. Or simply send your tax-deductible donation to 131 35th St. SE, Rochester, MN 55904.
