Patrol Sgt. Tim Bennett with the Sheriff’s Office said the stabbing was not life-threatening, but he could not comment further on where or how many stabbings the mother sustained.

Authorities were alerted to the incident after dispatchers received a call at about 1 p.m. Friday from the mother. She reported she had been allegedly stabbed by her son and was driving herself to the emergency room at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

Her son was reportedly still at the house.

Deputies responded to the residence and found the teenager on the front porch. He reportedly cooperated with authorities and was arrested.

Two knives and a shotgun were also confiscated.

Bennett said the incident remains under investigation, and he could not comment on what might have caused the alleged altercation.

Authorities have not released the type of knife used.

More information may be released Monday when the teenager is expected to face charges in Freeborn County District Court.
