A.L. man airlifted after crash

An Albert Lea man was airlifted to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester Saturday night after he reportedly veered off the roadway and hit a guardrail near the intersection of Front Street and Garfield Avenue.

Daniel Joseph Bettin, 42, was listed in stable condition as of Sunday afternoon.

Police stated Bettin was driving east on Front Street in a 1996 Buick Regal at about 11:15 p.m., when he reportedly suffered from a medical condition and went off the roadway.

He was not wearing his seat belt.

Police stated Bettin reportedly struck an object inside the vehicle and suffered a severe head injury.

He was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and then transported by helicopter to Rochester.

The Albert Lea Fire Department assisted at the scene.
