The Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce will host a public forum Oct. 11 for city and county candidates running for office.

The forum for the city candidates will begin the evening at 7 p.m. Incumbents Mayor Vern Rasmussen and Councilor Ellen Kehr and challengers Keith Porter and George Marin have been invited.

Shortly after, the forum for the commissioner races will begin.

Incumbents Glen Mathiason and Jim Nelson, along with challengers Neal Gjersvik and Ron Steckman, have been invited.

The forum will be broadcast live on the city government channel, Charter Channel 16, and KATE Radio. KIMT anchor and producer Sarah Danik,will be the moderator.

There will an opportunity for each candidate to make an opening statement, and the balance of the forum will consist of written questions supplied by audience members. To submit a question prior to the forum, people can send emails to alfccoc@albertlea.org.
