Clayton Sorenson, 87, Buda, Texas

Clayton A. Sorenson passed away Aug. 13, 2012, at Arveda Alzheimer’s Assisted Living in Buda, Texas. Clayton was born Feb. 19, 1925, in Albert Lea, and was the younger of two children to parents Nellie and Fred Sorenson.

Clayton is survived by his sister Lucille Larson of Albert Lea; daughters: Claire Sorenson and Kristie Sorenson-Hyatt of Austin, Texas; long-time friend and companion Phyllis Ross of Elk River; as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents.

Clayton grew up in Albert Lea. He served in the U.S. Navy, June 19, 1943, to Oct. 1, 1972, as a gunner, butcher, baker and cook. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycle riding.

A full military memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with a reception at the Fort Snelling Officer’s Club after the service.
