The memorial service for Donald George Schmidt will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Don  Rose will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before service at the chapel. Interment will be in Mansfield Township Cemetery.

Donald died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. He was 92 years old.

Donald was born in Mansfield Township on June 23, 1920, the son of George C. and Louise (Steele) Schmidt. He had lived in Cambridge, Cokato and Albert Lea. Donald was a member of the Mansfield Lutheran Church. He worked for Cedar Valley for many years.

Donald loved horses and his horse magazines and also enjoyed eating out at Trumbles with his friends. Donald was a very social person and enjoyed visiting with others and making them laugh. One of his great enjoyments was vacationing on the family farm.

Donald is survived by his sister, Isabel Naeve of Clinton, Iowa; 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Melita Hendrix, Ella Poole, Maurine Walcolz and Helen Schoenrock; brother, Henry; and twin brothers in infancy.

Donald will be sadly missed by his family and friends at REM.
